You can't be there for every dose. And calling to ask "Did you take your pills?" gets old fast, for both of you.

  • You live miles away, or work all day.
  • Mom doesn't want to feel checked on.
  • One quiet answer beats five worried calls.

Every dose

How it works: 3 steps, every day

  1. A full-screen alarm: Time for your evening pills, with each medicine listed.
    1

A gentle alarm she can't miss

Her phone rings. A calm, full-screen reminder shows exactly which pills to take.

  2. The camera with a frame and a spoken prompt that helps line up the pill organizer.
    2

One photo of the empty compartment

She snaps one photo. Big buttons, spoken prompts, no typing.

  3. Thank you. Your family has been told.
    3

Thank you. Your family has been told.

You get a quick update. If a dose is missed, the family gets a gentle heads-up, and one person can tap "I've got it."

PillNod shows a photo of the empty compartment. It doesn't confirm a pill was swallowed and isn't medical advice.

Setup takes about five minutes, together. See how setup works

FAQ

Questions families ask

Does PillNod confirm that Mom took her pills?

No. PillNod confirms a photo of an empty compartment. It does not confirm that medication was taken and is not medical advice. In an emergency, call 911.

How does setup work, and what does Mom need?

Mom needs an iPhone or Android phone and a weekly pill organizer. Setup takes about five minutes, together:

  1. On your phone: create your account, pick who's taking the pills, match the pill organizer, scan the prescription (or add doses by hand), check the plan, and invite Mom.
  2. On Mom's phone: she taps the link or types a 6-character code (no account or password), turns on alarms with guided steps, and takes one practice photo.
What if Mom doesn't answer the alarm?

It keeps ringing, and she can snooze it up to twice. If the dose still isn't confirmed by the time you choose (30, 60 or 90 minutes), the family gets a gentle heads-up, and one person can tap "I've got it."

What if Mom's phone is off, dead or on silent?

On silent, the alarm still rings, even when the phone is locked. If the phone is off or the battery is dead, no photo comes in, so the family gets the usual heads-up after the time you chose. If there's no internet, the photo is saved and sent as soon as the phone is back online, marked with the real time.

Does it work with a flip phone or a tablet?

PillNod needs a smartphone: an iPhone or an Android phone. Flip phones can't run apps. It's built for the phone Mom keeps with her, so it isn't designed for tablets.

Is PillNod HIPAA compliant?

HIPAA applies to doctors, hospitals, health insurers and the companies that work for them. PillNod is an app families use on their own, so it isn't a HIPAA covered entity. We still protect your family's information: only your family circle sees the photos, photos are deleted after 7 days, prescriptions are scanned on the phone, and we never sell data or show ads.

Is PillNod free?

Yes. Alarms, photo checks and alerts are always free. Premium adds more doses a day, more family members, a 30-day history and a weekly summary.

Can I cancel Premium any time?

Yes. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for, then your family moves to Free. Alarms, photos and alerts keep working.
